Training

New Jersey Law requires that every State employee, including employees of the College, receive annual ethics training.  For employees of the College this training is available on-line through the State Ethics Commission website (details provided below).

This full training needs to be completed not less than every third year (i.e., academic year 2021-2022, 2024-2025, etc.).  On the off years (2019-2020, 2020-2021, etc.),  employees can complete the ethics briefing. Employees who are new to the College in an off year will complete the full training in that initial year and after that follow the College’s regular training schedule.  New  employees are given ethics information during orientation through the Office of Human Resources and advised they are to complete the training during the first 60 days of employment.

Faculty who require the full training should complete the new College and University Faculty Training Module (see: http://www.nj.gov/ethics/training/faculty/presentation.html). Staff who require the full training should complete the State Employee Training Module (see: http://www.nj.gov/ethics/training/employee/presentation.html).  All other employees (i.e., employees who are not otherwise required to complete the full training) should complete the ethics briefing in the off years.  It should take less than 10 minutes to complete.  For instructions see:  http://www.nj.gov/ethics/training/briefing/index.html and for the briefing with audio see: http://www.nj.gov/ethics/training/briefing/presentation.html.

After finishing the appropriate State Employee Training Module, employees must fill out the on-line training completion form.  If prompted on that form to insert the employee’s “Agency” or “Department” the employee should insert “The College of New Jersey.”  Employees should keep a copy of the receipt received by email,  and provide a copy to the supervisor and to the Ethics Office at ethtrain@tcnj.edu.

Training for College employees without Internet access at work should consult their area supervisors who will arrange for training with the Ethics Liaison Officer.

Adjunct faculty and other part-time employees must certify that they have read the “Ethics Standards in Brief” in lieu of completing the online full training or briefing.
